Twitter and Me

Mister Bluebird's on my shoulder
It's the truth, it's actual
Ev'rything is satisfactual
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day, yes sir!

"Good morning everyone on Twitter this lovely morning." I usually start and stop my online day on Twitter. Seeing the "good morning tweets" has a neighborly feel to it. I look toward Liz's sunrises, news updates, and links to new blog posts. Fun tweets between friends is a nice relaxing way to end my day. I lurk around a few tweetchats. Yes, I like Twitter.
There have been thousands of articles and blogs written about the pros and cons of social media; I don't want to go there exactly. Gee whiz, boys and girls I've written my share of "why I tweet" stories. But I do have something on my mind.
Twitter is not for everyone. Nor is there one way, and one way only to do Twitter since it depends on your reason for joining. Would it surprise anyone that I tell good friend Jeanne Robertson not to tweet? She is a master of communication and maybe someday she will join the twitter community, who knows. For now she doesn't have time. (Click here to read how she used Twitter at the NSA Convention.)
I recently met the nicest young man in person that I follow on Facebook. I ask if he was also on Twitter. He answered, "Yes, I follow 2,000 people." He is a public figure and tweets for business. When I told him that I tweet to communicate with friends and businesses he had a puzzled look on his face. I said I wouldn't do Twitter or Facebook any other way. But of course, that is my personal choice.
Time to check my Tweetdeck feed, I bet some of you are there this morning.
